On more expansive material, he shifts into a commanding presence, delivering articulate backbeats, expressive fills, and dynamic swells that bring momentum and emotional arc to the arrangement. This sensitivity to space, movement, and tension is a hallmark of his sound.
Growing up in the country with nine brothers and sisters, I learned early how to make my own space and fill it with rhythm. Our house was always alive with sound—whether it be from my Mother with the radio on cleaning the house, to my siblings blasting their favorite music from their room—this constant exposure to music became the backdrop of my childhood and the spark that shaped my creative path.
With no formal lessons and plenty of determination, I taught myself to play the drums–banging out patterns on buckets and coffee cans before finally getting behind a real kit (paid for and provided by my older brother, Jim). Over time, that self-driven passion turned into a true craft. Today, I bring the same raw energy, curiosity, and love of music that started in that crowded country home to every swing of the stick.
